The
Program
Project SparkL caters to children attending grades 1 to 7 and deploy teachers to the shelter homes (centres) where the children reside.
While the shelter homes ensure that the children are safe and healthy, Project SparkL felt the need for intervention in the area of education.
The children are enrolled in Government schools and on assessment, we found them to be 3-4 years below grade level. Project SparkL conducts classess with skill-based teaching to bring the children up to grade level.
We work with Need base India, a registered NGO set up in 2009, for helping all those children living under the most dreadful and uncertain situations by providing them shelter. The organization runs 10 shelter homes in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
We conduct skill-based learning classes in English, Math and Kannada at these centres after school hours.
Classes are held four days a week for a duration of 2 hours a day.
One day of the week is dedicated to training and professional development of teachers and documentation.
