Our Story

A newspaper article (Source: published in Deccan Herald on 26th of January 2023) mentioned that in Karnataka alone, 37 lakh students dropped out after school and did not go on to college. This was an eye-opener for us.

According to the no-detention policy introduced as a part of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) under the Right to Education Act (RTE) in 2010, every child will be promoted compulsorily up to Grade 8. This leaves children struggling in Grades 9 and 10, because they are not equipped with the requisite skills for higher learning.

Shortage of trained teachers, poor teaching techniques resulting in poor foundational skills, excessive emphasis on rote-learning, lack of application-based teaching and lack of study materials are some of the reasons why children in these schools are way below grade level.

So we have taken up the challenge to make a difference in the lives of such children, specifically those staying at shelter homes. We teach them skills which they will use, not just in school, not just in college, but throughout their entire lives.
